How Norway determines residency
Norway considers you tax resident if you spend more than 183 days in Norway in any 12-month period, or more than 270 days in any 36-month period. Any part of a day counts as a full day.
Leaving Norway is sticky: residency only ceases after a calendar year with fewer than 61 days in Norway and no dwelling available to you or close family. After 10 or more years of residence, both conditions must hold for three consecutive years.
